U.S. Ambassador Visits SUCCESS Alliance in the Philippines
U.S. Ambassador to the Philippines Kristie Kenny visited a project site in northern Luzon on December 7. She observed a farmer field school in action and briefly engaged with the farmers, local government officials and SUCCESS Alliance staff. Members of the press covered the visit.

 

 

What's New

January 2008: Ecuador Update
The project completed its fifth and last cycle of Farmer Field Schools in December. With the completion of this cycle, SUCCESS Alliance has trained 21,710 smallholder cocoa farmers, exceeding the project goal of 21,000.

January 2008: Indonesia Update
SUCCESS Alliance is developing composting businesses and assisting in the technology transfer to farmers of agriculture machinery to chop cocoa pods for compost. The program is providing technical assistance to business service providers that serve the smallholder cocoa sector.

January 2008: Vietnam Update
In December the Tien Giang training team organized a three-day workshop in the province for 47 fermentary owners and technical staff on improving cocoa bean fermentation technology and sharing fermentary management experiences. The results of project implementation and the 2008 plan to develop cocoa in each province was shared with participants, who expressed positive feedback and comments on the project’s successes and impact.
