Liberia
SUCCESS Alliance staff provided technical assistance in cocoa farm rehabilitation to 6 cocoa farmers in Lofa and Nimba counties, which resulted in the underbrushing of 50 acres of cocoa. Staff assisted 10 cocoa farmers with the nursery management and transplating of 2,000 cabbage and hot chili pepper seedlings. Staff also supported 15 project-sponsored cocoa farmers’ associations in amending their bylaws and constitutions to be consistent with the Cooperative Development Agency's guidelines.

Vietnam
ACDI/VOCA staff finished distributing fertilizer and farming inputs to new SUCCESS Alliance farmers from Dak Lak and Lam Dong. Seedling distribution is now well underway. For all SUCCESS Alliance farmers in the Central Highlands, SUCCESS Alliance continued to conduct farmer field schools (FFS) and in-service trainings (IST). Staff conducted 171 FFSs and 4 ISTs in Dak Lak and Lam Dong in June.

Ecuador
With the start of two new cocoa export companies' operations, options for farmers to sell their product have increased in Ecuador. ACDI/VOCA has been working to inform these new companies, Armajaro and Ristock Cacao, about our partner associations. ACDI/VOCA's technical team has conducted several field visits to show company representatives the work being done, especially in certain areas of Los Rios, Guayas and Manabí.

Philippines
ACDI/VOCA continued the detailed planning process of our new CoCoPal Program with the four project implementing partners: Philippine Rice Research Institute (PhilRice), Cocoa Foundation of the Philippines (CocoaPhil), Philippine Association of Small Coconut Farmers Organisation (PASCFO) and Landcare Foundation of the Philippines (LFPI). The recipients are finalizing activities for their subawards, including drafting annual work plans and budgets for the first year. The subawards, once signed, will provide them with funds to undertake co-implementation of project activities in their respective areas.
